Val Markos

Val and his fellow HR and leadership development expert, Tammy Martin, launched Player-Coach Leadership in 2019 to work with companies and leaders on getting the best from their teams. He is also the founder of Vmark Consulting and has nearly 30 years of experience in the design and implementation of talent development programs. Val consults in the area of leadership development, focusing on leadership assessment and feedback, coaching, succession planning, executive selection and talent management systems. A partial list of his clients includes Chick-fil-A, Cox Communications, PwC, Lowe’s, McKesson, BJC Healthcare, Popeye’s and Ultimate Software. Prior to founding Vmark Consulting in 2006, Val was Executive Director of Leadership Development at BellSouth Corporation, responsible for directing the identification and development of current and future leaders for the company. Prior to joining BellSouth, he worked as an internal consultant in the area of personnel selection and organization development in both the private (USX) and public sectors (City of Miami, Florida). Val holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He has made numerous presentations at conferences and seminars sponsored by such nationally recognized organizations as the American Psychological Association, the Society of Industrial/Organizational Psychology and the American Society for Training and Development. He is a 12-time mentor in the Achieva^® Program.
